Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire is an independent, local charity and they have been working in the community to support older people, their families and carers for over 60 years.
They have 420 staff and volunteers, supporting over 4,000 people aged 50 and over every week.
Covering Lincoln and South Lincolnshire, they can offer support to approximately 110,000 of the 171,000 people over the age of 65 with almost 15,000 of those people being 85+. These figures will be higher as we provide services to people over the age of 50.
Many people assume they are a large national charity; however, they operate as a brand with Age UK but run as a separate independent charity raising funds locally to be used in return to help the local people. They rely on support from donations from the public, income from charity shops and charitable grants.
Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire give advice and free information to older people and their families. They offer home help with services likes cleaning, shopping, laundry and gardening. Their volunteer befrienders visit lonely older people in the community who have no one to talk to. They also provide activities at their day centre offering activities like lunch club, exercise classes, craft activities etc.
